This role designs and builds new websites for our clients and helps update and manage the sites they already have. Our clients are a mix of nonprofits, community organizations, startups, and small businesses.
This is a remote, independent contractor role open to candidates anywhere in the United States, with work assigned on an ongoing and project basis. Current college students can apply. This is an entry to mid-level role best suited for someone with 1 to 3 years of web design experience. That experience can come from freelance work, internships, student projects, or a previous job, as long as you have live sites to show for it.
Role Responsibilities:
Design and build new websites and landing pages for clients, primarily on WordPress and Squarespace.
Update and manage existing client websites, including content changes, new pages, image updates, plugin and theme updates, and general upkeep.
Refresh existing client sites, including layout, navigation, page templates, and visual cleanup.
Create a wide range of pages based on client needs, from landing pages and event pages to donation forms, program pages, and blog layouts.
Apply SEO best practices to new and existing pages, including page titles, meta descriptions, headings, image alt text, and site structure.
Install and connect Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, and other tracking tools on client websites.
Troubleshoot common site issues such as broken links, mobile layout problems, and form errors, and flag larger technical issues to the team.
Prepare simple handoff instructions and training materials so clients can manage their own content after launch.
Help organize website assets, logins, and internal documentation for client sites.
Participate in internal team meetings and occasionally join client calls when appropriate.
Support additional web and digital marketing projects as needed.
Qualifications:
1 to 3 years of web design experience.
Must be based in the United States
A portfolio with at least three live websites you designed and/or manage.

Working knowledge of SEO fundamentals. Deeper SEO experience is a strong plus.
A strong eye for layout, typography, and mobile-friendly design.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including explaining technical changes to non-technical clients.
Comfortable working independently in a remote environment.
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple client projects and deadlines at once.
Experience setting up Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, or similar tracking tools is a plus.
Experience with conversion tracking for Google Ads, Meta, or form submissions is a plus.
Experience with Figma, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar design tools is a plus.
Experience with WordPress page builders such as Elementor or Divi is a plus.

Familiarity with the Jewish community or Jewish organizations is a plus.
Compensation:
Work is paid hourly or on a per-project basis, depending on the scope of each assignment.
Hourly rates are negotiated based on experience and portfolio.
